 About the Supreme Court:

Abortion, guns, religion top a big Supreme Court term

The Supreme Court serves as the arbiter of the law. Their job is to ensure the American people the promise of equal justice under law and also functions as a guardian of the Constitution. Before this class I  knew the basics of the Supreme Court and what they do. Now I have learned that the court has the power the check the actions if the other 2 branches of government; executive and legislative. It was established in 1789 by Article Three of the U.S Constitution. The most important thing to know about the Supreme Court is that its best known power is judicial review or the ability of the Court to declare a Legislative or Executive act in violation of the Constitution, is not found within the text of the Constitution itself. After watching the video about The Supreme Court I had a much clearer understanding of highest judicial body in the U.S. The Supreme Court rules on cases that affect so many different aspects of our lives.
